Money Saving Tips to Decorate Your Bedroom

Ever tried decorating your home with all the items you really want, you may have started to notice that it can become quite expensive to decorate a bedroom.  Your bedroom is more than just a place to sleep, it’s the place we go to when we just want to get away from everything. But, you don’t have to spend tons of money to make your bedroom your paradise retreat   there are actually quite a few ways we will be covering on how to decorate your room without spending a ton of money.

Platform Beds
Bedroom sets can get expensive, so it’s important to shop around or find the same items individually. One of the most expensive things in the set is the bed frame. To solve this problem, you can instead opt for platform beds on sale. These platform beds actually don’t take box springs, just mattresses.

Clearance Items
A clearance item is on sale for one of three reasons: the item isn’t selling as much as the manufacture had hoped; the manufacture is releasing new items and needs to get rid of the stuff they have now for spacial concerns; the furniture has already been lightly used and is in an “as is” section. These might be pieces that are missing a knob or drawer handle, or have a small nick somewhere along the surface.

Change the Upholstery
If you have a sitting room or sitting furniture in your bedroom and you want to change the color or design, you don’t have to buy brand new furniture. All you need to do is upholster it. You can either do this yourself or have someone do it for you. This might cost a few hundred dollars or less depending on how big the item is and how complex the upholstery is going to be. If you want to do this yourself for a much cheaper price, there are guides online. You can also choose the alternative option and buy a slipcover. These come in an array of designs, styles and colors and the “seam” portion that goes under your furniture is barely noticeable

During the month of May, Boulevard Bazaar will be conducting a “Sectional” push.  The store will be filled will sectionals that will be sold with special low rates.  There is also a rumor from corporate that on top of all these special savings prices there will be coupon’s offered that will help you save a certain amount on sectionals of different sizes.  Sectionals are expected to arrive in the store beginning May 5-11 but I have not heard of an official sales date yet.

Keeping your Upholstery Clean

Like anything else in your home, your upholstered furniture requires cleaning. But do you clean your furniture as regularly as you should?  With the appropriate care, your upholstered living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture can provide many years of use.  By carefully and frequently cleaning your upholstery, you can greatly extend the lasting beauty of your home living room, dining room, and bedroom furniture.  The best way to maintain your upholstered furniture is by cleaning it on a regular basis.  Fresh stains should be blotted up immediately with a sponge or towel, but they should never be scrubbed or rubbed as it may cause irreversible damage. 

It is recommended that you clean your upholstery every 12 to 18 months.  If you have formal upholstery which is not used regularly, it may not need cleaning as frequently as upholstery in a family room which is used every day.  Regardless of how often your upholstery is used, you should never wait until it appears dull and soiled before having it professionally cleaned.  And remember, gentle vacuuming and immediate spot removal is the best way to maintain your upholstery in between professional visits.

Decorating With Rugs

Buying Persian rugs or plain pastel rugs, either way, using rugs to help decorate a room can be the best solution to making your space beautiful.  The quality and appearance of area rugs is usually determined by the type of material.  Your main choices are synthetic and natural fibers.  Synthetic fibers tend to be stronger rugs while natural fibers are more environmentally friendly.  Acrylic area rugs come in a wide variety of colors and are fade and stain-resistant.  They are good for kitchen areas as they are suited to hot and humid areas.  Polypropylene area rugs are one of the most popular as they are very durable and stain-resistant.

Sometimes rugs are used for padding under home furnishings; this is a waste of a rug.  An alternative would be to place the rug on the floor in the middle of the room and let the kids play with their toys there. 

The designs on your rug should complement the designs in your room.  You want everything to blend together seamlessly.  Match your room to the dominant colors in your room.  If you are uncertain of what color to go with choose a red rug and decorate around the rug.
