Top 5 Decorating Trends

You may either be moving into a new home or want to refresh the look of where you live now - but how do you do it?  There are so many different directions one can go when decorating a home.

Below are some trends and helpful hints for 2010 and 2011 to get your look current and your creative juices flowing!

5.  Eclectic.  Many different pieces and styles together in one room can give your home some unique character.  Are you digging the beautiful, gray, upholstered chair that has a romantic feel?  Pair it up with a funky, green pillow to make it pop!  With different styles, patterns, and colors, the possibilities are endless and in turn, you will have an original one-of-a-kind room.  Stay away from "showroom look" and get creative!

4.  Glitz & Glam.  Metallics and anything that shines is in.  Your room will really come to life with some deep gun metal grays and coppers.  Don't be afraid to turn to glitz.  As long as it is done tastefully, it can pull together an area while giving it a chic touch.

3.  Go Green.  Being eco-friendly has become a popular trend in all industries over the last few years.  Why not make your room one with nature?  Use neutral colors, it will go a long way.  How about organic cotton curtains?  A wooden coffee table?  Give your room that warm, earthy feel.

2.   Modern.  Straight lines, bold and geometric patterns. and vibrant colors mixed with neutrals...it sounds like a match made in heaven!  Contemporary is very in and it can make your room feel very urban but fun and funky as well.

1.  Go for Comfort.  It sounds cliche', but ultimately, you want your room to feel comfortable.  No one enjoys walking into a cold room where they do not feel welcome.  Make sure your furniture is not stuffy, instead, go for items that are inviting.
